West Hollywood needs John Heilman’s experience and leadership. John Heilman has dedicated a lifetime of service to West Hollywood. John was instrumental in the founding of West Hollywood. He authored the City’s landmark rent control law and the City’s laws banning discrimination on the basis of HIV/AIDS and gender identity. John helped established the City’s nonprofit affordable housing development corporation as well as the City’s strong inclusionary housing policy. John has worked closely with the City’s business community and established the City’s Visitor’s Bureau. John has also been a leader in establishing social services for the community, leading the effort to ensure West Hollywood provides a wide array of services to seniors, people living with AIDS, people with disabilities and members of the LGBTQI community. John also helped establish the City’s Women’s Advisory Board and the City’s Women’s Leadership Conference. John also helped make West Hollywood the first pro-choice City in the country. John is also one of the longest-serving openly gay elected officials in the nation. John Heilman has a proven track-record of providing unparalleled leadership and a legacy of making life better for everyone who calls West Hollywood home.
